Elvis - Peace In The Valley, The Complete Gospel Recordings - 3 CD Set

Elvis' favoriete muziek was de gospelmuziek. Dat was ook de muziekstijl die hij zowat zijn hele leven zong. Ook in de studio. Hij nam tijdens zijn carriëre verschillende gospel LP's op tijdens sessies die bedoeld waren om gospel te zingen. Ook tijdens vele andere opnamesessies kon hij het niet laten een gospelsong te zingen. Natuurlijk werden deze opgenomen. En al dan niet nog tijdens zijn leven uitgebracht. Op dit drie CD-set zijn alle gospelsongs van Elvis te horen die ooit opgenomen zijn. Zowat 90 songs in totaal. Elvis op zijn best. Alle opnames gemaakt voor een specifiek gospel album zijn hier te horen. Maar ook de fantastische I Got A Feeling In My Body en Help Me van de Stax sessies in 1973 bijvoorbeeld. Het nog steeds ondergewaardeerde nummer Life uit de juni '70 Nashville sessie. De meeslepende Sun recordings van december '56. Elvis met zijn J.D. Sumner & The Stamps aan de piano....   Teveel om op te noemen. Eindigen doet dit set met Peace In The Valley uit 1957. Een opname van The Ed Sullivan Show. Elvis wilde en zou dit nummer brengen, live op TV. Speciaal voor zijn moeder die in Memphis voor de TV zat. Tegen de zin van Ed.... Maar Elvis' wil was wet. En zo geschiedde. Speciaal voor Gladys...
