A special new book has been announced for Elvis collectors. RCA Victor Announces Elvis will be released in December, a hardcover book of no less than 450 pages that is entirely dedicated to Elvis' first five years at RCA Victor in America.

The book by Gaston Sanchez, Adam Greenaway, and Erik Lorentzen focuses on the period 1955–1960 and aims to provide a particularly complete picture of how RCA Victor brought Elvis and his music to the American market during those decisive years.

And complete really seems to mean complete here. The American singles, EPs, and LPs are featured extensively, but there is also attention paid to reel-to-reel tapes, cartridge tapes, record players, and original promotional and advertising material from RCA Victor, among other things.

One of the highlights will be the enormous amount of historical advertising material. According to the creators, the book contains approximately 150 full-page original advertisements from leading American publications such as Billboard, Cash Box, and Variety. In addition, periodical photos, RCA promotional materials, and numerous documents and details regarding the various releases and campaigns are included.

As such, the book goes much further than just an overview of records. It also shows how RCA Victor presented and promoted Elvis during the years when his career truly exploded. The record label acquired Elvis from Sun Records in late 1955 and subsequently watched him grow into an international phenomenon at breakneck speed. Releases, advertisements, promotional campaigns, and marketing from that period therefore collectively tell an important part of Elvis's history.

Erik Lorentzen calls RCA Victor Announces Elvis one of the projects he has worked on with the most pleasure over the years. According to him, the collaboration with the two enthusiastic Elvis collectors Gaston Sanchez and Adam Greenaway, and the enormous amount of knowledge and documentation brought together in the project, make it a particularly special release.

Especially for the serious record collector, this looks set to be a book to look forward to: 450 pages about the records, the promotion, the campaigns, and all the details from the golden RCA years of 1955 to 1960.

RCA Victor Announces Elvis is currently scheduled for December 9, 2026. Unfortunately, we must be cautious regarding that announced release date. Erik Lorentzen's most recent book projects have all eventually been published, but in several cases with a significant delay compared to the originally announced date. Apart from this, a release in the second week of December has been projected for this book.
